Positive Mental Attitute

Humility and Service. How intrinsically rewarding it is to give of oneself, and how important these two qualities are when sharing the gifts we have been given. A "Magnificent Obsession" takes courage and perseverance to conquer in spite of the obstacles that stand in our way. Napoleon Hill quotes, "That which you share with others will multiply and that which you withhold will diminsh. Develop an obsession - a Magnificent Obsession - to help others. Share yourself without expecting a reward, payment, or commendation. And above all else - keep your good turn a secret. And, if you do this, you will set in motion the powers of a universal law. For, try as you will to avoid payment for your good deed - blessings and rewards will be showered upon you."

In "Success through a Positive Mental Attitude", Clement Stone coins the term, "Inspirational Dissatisfaction". This refers to every adversity having a seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. Sometimes change occurs when the pain of staying the same outweighs the fear or resistance to change. "Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat." (Napoleon Hill) It is often through our adversities that we are stripped of our ego and humbled. As a result we are given great gifts - compassion for others and the ability to pass along what we have learned. Nothing happens by mistake.

"Your most preciously valued possessions and your greatest powers are often necessarily invisible and intangible. No one can take them. You and you alone can share them. The more you share the more you will have." (Napoleon Hill) This is not to say that we cannot provide a service based on the monetary value the service is worth; however, we need to keep in mind the motive behind the service and what we would like to gain. When we serve to benefit others, for the purpose of passing on what we have been given, then we are truly blessed.

"Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfillment." ~ Anthony Robbins
