Agape Love

"Love is a marathon, not a sprint.
But it is a race worth running."

Excerpts taken from "The Love Dare" by Stephen & Alex Kendrick:

-

Love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 Cor 13:7) does not come from within. It can only come from God. The only way love can last a lifetime is if it is unconditional. Love is not determined by the one being loved but rather by the one choosing to love. It is not an emotion we feel, it is an attitude and outpouring of unselfish concern for others.

-

Agape Love is selfless and unconditional. God is this kind of love. He doesn't love us because we are lovable but because He is so loving. If He insisted that we prove ourselves worthy of His love, we would fail miserably. But God's love is His choice. It's something we receive from Him then share with others. "We love because He first loved us." (1 John 4:19)

-

This is God's kind of love. And thankfully by your choice it can become your kind of love. But first you must receive and share it. You will no longer say, "I love you because..." you will now say, "I love you period." Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint. It's a race worth running!

In the picture: Marathon Maniacs Jean Lemke, Teresa Moore, and Ann Scholl and thier husbands Bill, Dan, and Phil. They are the ones that have unselfishly accepted our craziness while we set out to accomplish our mission...three marathons in three months (Boston, Green Bay, and Grandma's). They exhibited true patience and understanding. They were the ones enduring the most challenging marathon of all!
