"Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. All athletes practice strict self-control. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step." ~ 1 Corr 9:24-26
Running can be compared to how we live our lives. We all are winners, regardless of the obstacles that stand in our way. How we show love, mercy, and kindness is the true essence of the race.
Life is a lot like preparing for a marathon. It requires a great deal of endurance and discipline. If we want to succeed and grow spiritually, we need to focus on these goals and let go of the things that may slow us down. If we recognize that life may not always be easy, but keep moving foward striving for the eternal prize, we will experience God's power in our lives.
When persevering in our training, we need to keep the primary objectives in sight, and resist that which may take us away from our ultimate goal.
